If you are gluten-free, then you better get your behind here, fast! Quince felt like finding that rare Tim Hardaway rookie card (for my ol' heads) in your deck or hearing Seal for the first time. This place is so good that I almost don't want to tell you about it! This little diner is cozy, fitting probably no more than 20-25 people in the space. The kitchen is close to the customers, so the waiting staff was very friendly and responsive to order additions or changes. On a slow Sunday afternoon, I found parking right outside of the restaurant. Let's be real. For me, breakfast equals pancakes. No debating. The gluten-free pancakes were smooth, fluffy, and large. If you know anything about gluten-free baked goods, they can be dry, brittle, or bland. The spinach-egg dish was great, for the eggs were not runny or rubbery as well as the spinach was well-blended into the eggs. The best part of the meal was the freshly-squeezed orange juice! No carton; no additives; just that real taste. Whatever you do, get the orange juice! The food was more than affordable, especially for the large portions. Support small businesses!

This little hole in the wall is exactly what I love! Finding small businesses like this one makes my heart happy. The owner is very kind and bubbly! The menu is simple and straight forward. The food is local and fresh! Coffee is self serve and very delicious roast. My breakfast sandwich was very tasty and I could truly taste the quality in eggs, bread, cheese, and bacon. The chicken apple sausage was tasty and that perfect balance between savory and sweet. It's a small shop that feels cozy and welcoming. Good hearty food for an excellent price! Seriously the prices are spot on for locally sourced fresh food! You've got to stop here at least once.

Grab a menu and seat yourself! Quince Cafe is a quaint little family owned place down University on San Pablo and away from the college kids. They have a wide selection of egg based dishes and one that caught my eye was the Jordanian omlette with eggplant and chicken sausage. All egg dishes come with hash and toast. I elected to upgrade from the toast to their house blueberry muffin ($1 extra) - which is definitely worth it. The omlette is a 5-6 out of 10 spicy and I loved how fluffy the egg was. The sausage were cut to the right size for easy chewing. Only thing was that the eggplant probably made it waterier than usual because I had a pool of spicy oil liquid left on my plate. I also liked the hash, the potatoes were super thin, which maxinized the crunchy surface. The best part was the muffin - huge muffins with lots of blueberries. Moist on the inside but the muffin top had a nice crusty texture.

A friend recommended this place to me and I was craving brunch so I decided to go with my cousin. We went on a Sunday and there was no wait at 10am. The place was packed though! I ordered the pancake roulette and boy it was huge! It was a pancake with layers of berries and honey yogurt inside. It was quite heavy for a pancake. The pancake was fluffy. I probably stick with normal pancakes next time. My cousin ordered the resolution omelet with a side of fruit. This was a healthy version of an omelet. It was egg whites with vegetables inside. It was perfectly made and tasted good. ALSO, don't forget the homemade spicy ketchup! It was so good! Highly recommend! They also have jam on the table, I think it is homemade as well. Of course, they have normal ketchup and 4 different types of hot sauce on the table for you. Overall it is a cute breakfast place that won't break the bank. Most items are around $10 and that is not a bad deal compare to other hipster brunch spot. This feels like a mom and pop shop.

I've driven past this place over the years but never stopped by for whatever reason. How I decided on this place for breakfast is typing: CRISPY HASH BROWNS in the Yelp search for the Berkeley area and Quince popped up...Mmmm! I can appreciate a perfectly cooked hash brown - crispy, crunchy and nicely cooked inside...then again I like anything made from a potato but my bestie David must have his hash browns...We've gone to many breakfast places over the years only to have the option of country potatoes or fruit...heck I'm good with that but can tell my breakfast buddy is not happy and usually leaves half. Eggs benedicts accompanied with hash browns all around. Quince (IMO) makes a perfect one AND put on some of their housemade spicy ketchup and I was a happy camper...D E L I C I O U S! (Clean plates!) Place is self service (take a menu and seat yourself...get ur own water/coffee) but the waitress who took our orders was really friendly, helpful and made the place very homey and relaxed Small place but not cramped with no wait before 930am on a Saturday...Average cost for Benedicts and the best hash browns with coffees: $17 incl tax and tip

CAN I JUST HAVE A GALLON OF THAT SPICY KETCHUP??? The trusty Yelp App lead us to Quince Café & Grill in Berkley and we were finally ready to chow down! It is a cute cozy spot, and the staff is also great answering questions regarding the menu items, and suggesting their personal favorites as well. We both took our waiter's suggestion and I went with a Smoked Salmon Scramble with hash browns and an everything bagel. Wifey went the sweet route and opted for their Pancake Roulade, a huge pancake filled with berries, yogurt, and granola. I was expecting prices to be higher given the location, but their prices are surprisingly cheap! Our plates arrive, and before we dig in, our waiter gives me a container of the famous Spicy Ketchup I keep reading about in reviews. Man, after that first spoonful, that ketchup got slathered ALL OVER my breakfast and in each and every bite! The taste is more like a spiced ketchup with seasonings and spices, not burn-your-tongue spicy. after I killed my plate, two thirds of the ketchup was gone...Man was that GOOD! Wifey didn't really care for her roulade though, as the pancake was on the cold side. I guess it sounded better than it tasted. I had a few bites of that as well, and I thought it was okay. Definitely coming back here if we're ever in the area, and I'll also grab a jar of that crack ketchup! ALOHA!!!
